I Give Up

Well, yet another pathetic bout of boosting has finally made me decide to trade in MW3.  What is the point of playing this game when there are arguably thousands of such players like ‘PorkyCuthbert‘ and ‘BobbyBigPants‘  - who cannot wait to rank up playing the game as it was meant to be played?  At the moment, there appears to be a problem rendering uploaded videos via the personal vault on the Elite site – so this post will have to wait until it becomes available again.

EDIT: Video now available.  You will see it stops after I killed ‘BobbyBigPants‘.

Thankfully Mass Effect 3 is released shortly – where it appears that there is a better moral quality of player.

MOAB Boosters

If you have read my earlier post regarding cheating – or boosting as it is commonly known – then you will be  aware that boosting is  “The act of two or more players collaborating and killing each other repeatedly, usually to obtain kills/headshots/killstreaks without having to put in much effort, usually considered cheating.”

In a recent game, two players – and I use that in the very loosest sense of the word – used boosting to obtain the Mother Of All Bombs (MOAB).  How can they feel pleased with themselves when it is not their gaming skill that obtains such a kill streak but their skill in finding a patsy to help them?  Why do they not perform these antics in a private match?

Are they not aware that kills are displayed in the lower left of the screen – informing players who killed whom and how?  So when I saw the legend

Viralz x4  headshot icon Jonzieh  appear about 7 times in succession, I knew they were in all most probability cheating.  Sure enough my theatre replay proved this – albeit a short video as I was so pissed off.

Mass Effect 3: Special Forces Trailer

With just under a month until release – March 6th for Mass Effect 3 - BioWare have been busy releasing either videos or little snippets of information to whet your appetite.  Considering the improvement from the original to ME2, I can only hope that ME3 will surpass all expectations.  If it does then we are arguably already looking at a contender for GOTY 2012!

I will admit to splashing out on the Collector’s Edition some time ago.

ELITE Drops: Liberation and Piazza Maps

Further to an earlier post there have been numerous queries regarding the installation of the downloadable content.  Do not be alarmed dear friend, as those lovely people at Call of Duty ELITE have posted a video guide on YouTube – watch and learn noob.

Although I have been anticipating the new maps – after playing each one for a gazillion times they get boring – I have been too busy to play for a couple of days.  I expect the 360 to take a hammering over the next week though.

Mass Effect 3 Unlocks

Play the Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning [PEGI 18] demo  - available at the Marketplace now – and unlock exclusive Todd McFarlane-designed Reckoner Knight Armor and The Powerful Chakram Launcher for Mass Effect 3!  Further news is that the ME3 demo will become available on 14th February – that date rings a bell for some reason or another.  More information over at Bioware’s social network.

RIP John Scott

Despite being a callous individual generally, the recent death of a respected colleague and friend has made me ponder my attitude.  John Scott was perhaps considered a gruff individual  - until you penetrated that exterior and discovered a warm, amusing and intelligent person.

When I was asked to enter a different department, my only condition was the John should be the one to train me – as I considered  him to be thorough and exact.  This was arguably due to his naval career, where if he were on the USS Enterprise, he would shame the chief engineer with his knowledge and expertise on achieving maximum warp speed.  On visiting his home after a fairly recent bout of illness, he still had his naval cap on view and a receiver -that may have been pilfered from a ship it was so good –  listening to his beloved Radio Devon.

My thoughts reach out to John’s wife Kath – who has suffered more personal misfortune than is understandable lately – whom I know that John totally adored.

Free Upgrade

Those of you that use ESET Smart Security Home Edition (versions 3/4) are entitled to get a free upgrade to version 5.  If you are looking  for an anti-virus or complete system protection, ESET  is one of – if not the best – in its class.  Their application is unobtrusive, leaves a small footprint and so will not slow your machine in any way.  I have had a stress-free Windows experience for over 4 years since I started with ESET – you can too.

Modern Warfare 3 – DLC Arriving

Call of Duty Elite subscribers will receive the first downloadable content on the 24th January – this is the date for the Xbox 360 console, others at a later date – the first of nine monthly downlaods.

This first instalment offers two new multiplayer maps – Piazza and Liberation – the former being set on the coast of Italy and the latter in Manhattan.  Take a peek at the supplied Official Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 Content Season 2012 Kick-Off – Behind the Scenes video.

Boosting

I will admit to be playing MW3 a tremendous amount lately – although that will be dramatically reduced when I commence T216 in February – and arguably the introduction of the Elite Service has improved the infamous Modern Warfare community a great deal.  Perhaps I have been fortunate that the lobbies I have been a part of have been pleasant and amiable overall.

There are however, a small minority who tarnish the game with their ridiculous antics.  In gaming terms, it is known as ‘boosting’ which can be defined as “The act of two or more players collaborating and killing each other repeatedly, usually to obtain kills/headshots/killstreaks without having to put in much effort, usually considered cheating.”  Having suspected of this unsavoury practice taking place, I checked my Theatre Mode – which records your gaming and offers the ability to change to different players – when lo and behold, my suspicions were proved to be correct.  View the supplied video with this post for the shameful acts.

Gamers involved were “iTz v HyPeRz” and “vR DazR” – poor, pathetic creatures.
